Four people, one unit at Cross Green, and nine years of wrapping cars and vans for Leeds.
01 / Our story
Second Skin started in 2017 with one fitter, a rented corner of a unit at Cross Green and a simple idea: most people who want a car to look different don't want to lose the paint it came with. Film does both. It changes the colour completely, and when it comes off, the factory finish is still there underneath.
Nine years and more than 1,240 cars and vans later, the whole unit is ours. There are four of us now: three fitters and a designer who draws every van livery we print. We still wrap every car in the same bay, under the same lights, because the conditions the film goes on in decide how long it lasts.
Most of our work comes from people who have seen a car we did. A satin grey M4 in Roundhay, a fleet of vans around Morley, a dechromed Range Rover in Harrogate. We would rather be known for those than for anything we could say here.
02 / How we work
Everything we do comes off again. A wrap changes the car and protects the paint underneath, and the day you want the original back, it is still there.
We check the paint before we quote. Film shows what's under it, so lacquer peel and bad resprays get flagged first, not wrapped over and discovered later.
No driveways and no kerbsides. Film needs clean air, good light and controlled heat, and the only place we can promise all three is our own bay.
Cheaper calendared film shrinks back from curves within a year. We fit cast film from 3M and Avery Dennison, which stays where it is put.
